1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to operate, improve, and personalize the SurfMatch experience.

Email Address & Password: Used to create and secure your account, verify your identity, and enable cross-device synchronization.
User-Saved Favorites: Surf spots you choose to save as favorites, stored so they appear consistently across your devices.

Precise GPS Location (optional): Collected only when you grant permission and actively use the “Locate Me” feature. Not collected in the background and not used for advertising.

Location-Based Features & Messaging: To provide accurate real-time surf forecasts and non-commercial local environmental/ocean messaging.
Account & App Functionality: To allow login, maintain your profile, and sync favorites.
App Performance & Improvement: To analyze anonymous, aggregated usage patterns for improving the App.

SurfMatch does not sell or rent your personal information.

We only share limited information when necessary:

Third-Party Forecast Providers: Anonymous or encrypted location data is used solely to fetch accurate forecasts.
Legal Requirements: Information may be disclosed if required by law or for safety/security reasons.

Control Over Location: Revoke permissions anytime via device settings.
Account Deletion: You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time.
- In-App: You may delete your account directly within the SurfMatch app settings.
- Web/Email Request: If you cannot access the app, you may request full account deletion by emailing surfmatchapp@gmail.com with the subject line "Delete My Account". We will verify your identity and permanently delete your account and data within 30 days.
